Dr Tom Pelly
Gender: Male
Tom Pelly is a GP Partner and Trainer at Horfield Health Centre, Bristol, and is also the local PCN Clinical Director.
He trained at University College London, (q. 2001) and spent a year in 2003 researching the interaction between tuberculosis and intestinal parasites in Peru. After moving to Bristol and training in General Internal Medicine, he worked as a full-time educator for medical students from Bristol University.
He subsequently was delighted to find his vocation in general practice. Tom is a former Associate Postgraduate Dean within the Severn School of Primary Care for 6 years. He enjoyed the process of being on 48 episodes of Channel 5’s, GPs Behind Closed Doors.
At the MHRA, he’s sat on the Devices Expert Advisory Committee, and has been re-appointed to its new iteration, the Interim Devices Working Group. He also sits on the MHRA’s Software Expert Advisory Group (since inception, 8 years ago), and the Wellcome/ MHRA committee assessing best use of digital mental health technology.
Outside of medicine, he’s proud to have written Precipitous Life, a true story of sudden grief.
